Garage Door Not Opening. Your garage door has set-limit switches that instruct the motor when to stop running—both when it is opening, and when it is closing. If your garage door opener sounds like it is operating but it's not making the door go up or down this is very likely to be your problem.
First make sure it is not the battery in your remote. Virtually all garage door openers have a bypass switch for situations such as when the power goes out, a motor goes awry, or the remote opener dies. I disconnected the door from the opener and the door opens and closes freely.
